Bacolod City will have two New Year celebrations in a month as the
Bacolaodiat Festival - the Chinese New Year celebration is set January 20-23,
2012.
2012 is the majestic year of the Dragon, the 5th animal in the 12 year cycle
of the Chinese Zodiac.

This year, like the rest of the world, the Chinese New Year unfolds with a
bang as firecrackers explode, dragons and lions dance, Chinese lanterns light up
the streets, and traditional Chinese ceremonies and rituals are held.
Bacoloadiat comes from “Bacolod” and “Lao Diat” – a Fookien word for
‘celebration’.
